(i) Regular Cause List
In the first instance complete particulars of all the pending judicial cases were computerized. Thereafter, printing of Regular Cause Lists, was started, during the year 1991.
When the computerization of the assignment was regularized, distribution of Manual Regular Cause List to the lawyers was ordered to be stopped. Introduction of computerized Cause Lists has proved to be a success, in terms of `convenience, both for lawyers as well as establishment of this Court. Computer Cell also issues `Lawyers Cause List' separately, which was not in practice, earlier. This particular List carries pages of only those lawyers, whose cases are fixed in a certain week. It also contains an index which shows whether the case of any lawyer is fixed or not. This has made the work of Lawyers much easier, as previously they had to go through the whole consolidated Manual Cause List, to search out their cases fixed in Courts.
Saving Of Stationery Expenses:- The computerization of Regular and Supplementary Cause Lists led to saving of sizeable expenditure, which was being incurred on the purchase of duplicating paper etc. On the basis of actual calculation obtained from the Stationery Branch, an amount of Rs. 1,50,680/- was saved during a period of three months in the year 1991. Following the pattern of this calculation it may safely be assumed that Rs.6 lac are being saved per annum since the implementation of computerization of various assignments.
(ii) Supplementary Cause List
Printing of Supplimentary Cause List was started on Computer during the year 1995. Parallel to this distribution of lawyers Cause List was also started, which proved quite helpful to lawyers in pursuing their cases in Courts with full concentration. In this way litigant public was also benefitted since chances of going their cases unattended by the learned Counsel were exterminated.
Disposal Statements of Hon'ble Judges (daily, weekly and monthly) is also computerized. These statistics were previously maintained manually. A Court Result Proforma' is distributed to all the Courts, on daily basis, for collecting daily Court results. The results are fed back (disposal, admission) and desired statements, both disposal as well as admission, are generated through computer.
Library catalogue has also been computerized. Issue/return record of books is also maintained. Catalogue is updated on receipt of new books/law reports etc.
(v) Personal Information System
Personal record of Judicial Officers of the Punjab, Gazetted Officers/Officials of Lahore High Court, Lahore, is also being computerized. Completion of this assignment will be extremely useful from administrative point of view.
